Families and Babies have thought about the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and to ensure we comply with the GDPR we have updated our data policies.

Why do we hold data?

To fulfil our commissioned service specifications we are required as an organisation to collect personal data from mothers birthing at local Hospital trusts who have initiated breastfeeding.

This information is used by FAB to offer breastfeeding support.

Anonymised data from FAB is shared with the local authority, in order to understand local needs in local communities.

What do we hold?

We record personal contact details including Mothers name, address, and telephone number.

Record of support given at key stages is documented and includes; type of support given i.e. (hospital, home visit, telephone), brief summary of discussion, baby’s date of birth and feeding methods at key stages from birth to 6 weeks.

We may also collect; mothers age, ethnicity and smoking status to help with anonymous statistical information for commissioners.

How do we store data?

Information is stored on a secure, encrypted, database and paper records are disposed of through a confidential waste system.
